Nevados de Chillan (a day at the snow!)

We got our snow gear on one morning, got our boards and went out early with Nadine to the bus stop. The ONE bus that leaves for the mountain pulled away as we got there (it left early, but we may have fluffed around slightly as we don’t do mornings well).

Anyway, we were in our gear and ready to go so we decided to wing it. We caught the next bus to the closest town Las Trancas and once off the bus there we walked straight into a transfer to the mountain! Sweet!!

The weather was pretty overcast and a lot of the mountain was closed due to snow. We did a couple of runs (I tried to get rid of the wobbles!), had an early lunch (boiled chicken and chips surprisingly tasty??!!), then we went back onto the mountain. A new chairlift was open, it started snowing and we  found POWDER!!!

Matt told me to follow him, I didn’t realise it was going to be powder and I hit it, fell and sunk!! After some cursing and numerous attempts to get out of it, I realised it was actually quite fun!!!! Such a different style of boarding so that took a few goes to get used to it. But powder is great!! If you fall you just seem to bounce straight back up if you have enough speed, if you don’t, you sink… And as is the (my) case, when there’s trees, and you hesitate (and go slow) you get yourself stuck so badly you take 10 mins to dig yourself out…. Haha. After trying to blame Matt for a while I got out, got up and kept going.

All in all, we had a fantastic day at the snow! It took a while to get home, but again the Stone’s were amazing and came and picked us up closer from the bus. We shared the rest of the evening chatting to them which was lovely. It’s like we’ve known them forever but we only just met! And it’s all because we all have this love of Jehovah in common. Very cool!
