We only had an afternoon and night in Bariloche but we will return. It’s a really scenic town on a beautiful big lake (Nahuel Huapi Lake). We wondered the town for food! And all the shops are chocolate shops!! OMG! Chocolate and ice cream and all things bad everywhere!
We found an ice skating rink in what looked like a shopping centre on the main street. We had fantastic Parradilla which is basically a selection of meats cooked in the Argentina way (minus the blood sausage, look out for that!) That was beautiful! And we had dinner with 2 Scottish Girls, an Aussie and a UK/Aussie who we met in Pucon! They’re doing an Intrepid tour and we ended up following them (or them following us we can’t be sure) from Pucon, to San Martin and then to Bariloche. They had a guide (Alberto) who was Argentinian and was translating a lot for them (and then us also) so it was a running joke that we were stalking them and just doing the tour without paying for it… We would be like… “So guys… what bus are you taking? Where are you off to next? Oh that’s weird… so are we” playing up the creepiness! Hehe… They were a lot of fun and we had good chats with them. That was it for Bariloche, we’ll return later… Next stop is the 30 hour bus ride to El Calafate…
