Last Day in El Chalten

We’ve been hoping to be in a town covered in snow the whole time we’ve been in Argentina and we hadn’t seen it until this morning in El Chalten. After a night of crazy winds where we were getting blown the opposite way trying to walk home down the main street, we woke up to the town covered in SNOW!! The few centimetres of snow covering everything looks spectacular!!

We did another small walk up to a hill in town that gave us a view of the whole area and town covered in snow.

Our walk up to the hill overlooking El Chalten covered in snow!

Then we spent the next few hours in the day walking to the North end of town and about 3kms out to waterfall “Senda Chorrillo del Salto”.

The waterfall was beautiful as a layer of snow had covered the trees, the rocks, the ground and everything (except the waterfall duh)! We had a snow ball fight with some random people walking past on the foot path. That was great as the whole 3km walk to the waterfall, Matt had been hammering me with snow balls, and I couldn’t succeed in getting him back once!! So as these randoms started throwing snow balls at us, we started throwing them back, then I conveniently dropped behind Matt so that I could “accidentally” hit him as well! I tried to get everyone to attack only him, but luckily for Matt my Spanish isn’t that great and no one understood… haha!! Snow is alot of fun!!!! 🙂 hehehe

This was our last day in El Chalten as we got a transfer back to El Calafate that night ready to head to Ushuaia by plane the next day…
