Montevideo, Uruguay

A 2.5/3 hour bus ride took us from Colonia to Montevideo… The bus had.. what for it… free WIFI!! WIFI has been available at all the restaurants and many public places in Argentina, so Uruguay just went a step up putting it on their buses! ๐Ÿ™‚

We jumped on a public bus to get to the old town where our hostel was an a guy got on and sang a song on his guitar…. They have BUSKERS on buses here too! haha… He was actually very good and very friendly. So our introduction to Montevideo was great!

We spent the time there walking around the city, shopping (I bought a tiny hairdryer that is 1000w and has great power.. turns out Brazil’s voltage is lower so it’s crap here which is where I wanted it… DAMN! hehe) and checking out the sites. We were happy to see some different types of food available, Mexican… Restaurants offering more than Parrilla!!

MontevideoThe lock fountain above (bottom right) was a little fountain that had locks tied to it all over. Couples put the locks there and throw the key in the water so that they stay locked together forever. It was very cute and a bit romantic so we decided to go get a lock and do it…. but forgot…. LOL!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Montevideo - Sunset
Above was the sunset from one of the city beaches, was a great spot to chill out on our last night in Montevideo.
Montevideo - Pics
Top left above was an artist using spray paint to create gorgeous scenes of mountains and rivers and night scenes with planets and cool stars. We watched him paint for about 45mins it was really cool to watch. We would have loved to buy one but they couldn’t be rolled to take away. The middle photo is the view of Montevideo from one of the taller buildings in the main street.
