From Buenos Aires we left Argentina and headed to Colonia Uruguay! The trip across the water only took an hour and we were there. We arrived at night so didn’t see how cute the place was until the next morning.
We went for a walk in the old part of town which was a fort which was built by the Portugese. The Spanish and Portugese have fought over this place for centuries until Uruguay became it’s own country.
The streets were really pretty and you could go up in the lighthouse and see the view from the top. There were cafes, restaurants, quaint streets and gorgeous buildings galore. All with the ocean as your backdrop!
We stopped in at the “Drugstore Cafe” (bottom left corner above) for lunch and a live band was playing. Great way to spend a few hours in the afternoon. No cray scary stories in Colonia.. It was a nice change!
